I've just had a big road trip from Mareeba in Far North Queensland to Tasmania with my daughter. It was a fantastic trip. On the road somewhere I used Google Maps most of the way instead of standalone GPS. Google Maps is fantastic but I had heard of WAZE, so I tried that as well. Why is long-term travel so different from camping or even a "trip of a lifetime" to the Cape? The biggest difference is that you are NOT on holidays! You may be retired or have a nest-egg, or have rental income, or be running your business while you travel to fund your lifestyle, but you are not on holidays.
